UIDAI-Aadhaar. 21st crore Aadhaar letter to be issued today.

Today is a red-letter for all associated with the Aadhaar Program.  The 21st crore Aadhaar letter will also be handed over to a resident, today by Shri. Manmohan Singh @  Dudu, Rajasthan.

Full page advertisements have been splashed across all leading newspapers to publicise this occasion.

As this is a good publicity opportunity, all the top brass of The UPA government, including Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Minister of State for Communications Sachin Pilot and Planning Minister Ashwani Kumar, will attend the meet.

On the same occasion PM will also the launch the Aadhaar Based Delivery System. This also coincides with the second anniversary of Aadhaar project.

As the government is rolling out Aadhaar enabled service delivery initiative in 51 districts across the country, the roll-out launch of the Aadhaar enabled service delivery is necessary.

Aadhaar enabled service delivery is expected to revolutionize the pension payments, MNREGA payments, PDS distribution, scholarship payments etc.  As to whether this is good or bad, only time will tell.

The major challenges at the ground level will be the connectivity between the onsite authentication machine and UIDAI-CIDR servers. As the Aadhaar enabled service delivery is planned to be on-line, the telecom connectivity is of paramount importance. In case the connectivity is not continuous, the whole exercise will lead to additional tensions.

“We are very excited about the future of Aadhaar, given the fact that we are about to launch Aadhaar Enabled Service Delivery. Aadhaar is an online identity platform that can be accessed in real-time for authenticating beneficiaries and can be adapted by various user agencies, which creates scope to dramatically improve the manner in which social sector schemes are administered,” said Shri R.S. Sharma, Director General & Mission Director, UIDAI on the occasion.

On the occasion of the launch, ongoing Aadhaar Enabled Service Delivery pilots of PDS in Kakinada, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh; Social Security payment in Aurangabad, Maharashtra; LPG cylinders delivery in Mysore, Karnataka; MNREGS payment in Ramgarh, Jharkhand and Old Age Pension payments in West Tripura district of Tripura will be telecast live.

The Prime Minister will also be presenting the Aadhaar Governance Awards and the Aadhaar Excellence Awards.
