It is human tendency to seek recognition for the novel approaches towards new thoughts.
Towards this end, UIDAI-Aadhaar too has decided to institute yearly awards on innovative approaches for spreading the wings of Aadhaar.
There are primarily two types of awards i.e Aadhaar Governance and Aadhaar Excellence
On the second anniversary of the Aadhaar launch, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will give away Aadhaar Governance and Aadhaar Excellence Awards, at Dudu in Jaipur district on Saturday.
Aadhaar Governance Awards are primarily to reward District Collector Deputy Commissioner
Aadhaar Excellence Awards are primarily to UIDAI’s ecosystem partners in appreciation of their extraordinary and innovative contribution to improve public service delivery using Aadhaar.
The Aadhaar Governance Awards will carry a cash prize of Rs.3 lakhs for the first place, Rs.2 lakhs for the second phase and Rs.one lakh for the third place.
The Aadhaar Excellence Awards do not have a monetary prize, but trophies and certificates are awarded.
It is not the question of money, it is the question of prestige associated with the awards.
The cash received under the Aadhaar Governance Award will go directly to the office of the District Collector. The first prize under this category will be awarded to Dr. Amitabh Kaushal, Deputy Commissioner, Ramgarh District, Jharkhand for leveraging Aadhaar Identity Infrastructure Platform for improvement of delivery services in implementation of various social sector programmes especially MNERGA, social security pension scheme, distribution of stipend to students and PDS.
Similarly the second prize will be jointly awarded to Ms. Neetu Kumari Prasad, District Collector and Shri A.Babu, Joint Collector East Godawari District, Andhra Pradesh for innovative work in undertaking an Aadhaar enabled public distribution system pilot in East Godwari district in Andhra Pradesh.
The third prize will be given to Shri Kunal Kumar, District Collector Aurangabad district Maharashtra for implementing Aadhaar enabled payment for various pension schemes run by the Central and the State of Government of Maharashtra.
The Aadhaar excellence award will be given to Shri A.P.Hota, Managing Director and C.E.O. N.P.C.I. for initiatives taken in implementation of Aadhaar enabled payment system pilot in Jharkhand and also for contribution of N.P.C.I. as Authentication Service Agency to various banks.
Shri Harpreet Singh Commissioner Civil Supplies Government of Andhara Pradesh will be awarded for innovative work in executing the Aadhaar enabled public distribution system pilot in East Godawari District in Andhra Pradesh.
Likewise Shri P. Jayadevan Chief Manager Indian Oil Corporation Limited will be given Aadhaar excellent award for successful rollout of for LPG delivery pilot using Aadhaar Authentication in Mysore district,
Shri Rajesh Agrawal Secretary IT, Government of Maharashtra for implementation of State Resident Data Hub and for overall improvement in service delivery using Aadhaar and Bank of India for initiatives taken in implementation of Aadhaar enabled payment system pilot in Jhakharand.
