UIDAI chairman and former Infosys CEO Nandan Nilekani, in the run up to being declared the Congress candidate from the Bangalore South constituency for the Lok Sabha polls, has gone for a soft launch of his election campaign.
Till the official announcement by the GOP (Congress) about Nandan Nilekani’s candidature for Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency, the focus is on attracting voters through Nandan Nilekani’s personal blog. Social media too has a prominent role in the soft campaign.
Nilekani’s core group of experts includes close associates adept at using technology, lawyers and policy experts who are expected to work closely with the Congress strategists and local politicians.
Apart from day to day meetings with local leaders, residents and prominent persons as well as visits to popular eateries in the constituency, a crucial campaign element would be the “missed call campaign” launched a few days ago. Through this, people would be able to give ideas to develop Bangalore.
Ideas that Nilekani has been propagating on his blog over the past month include improving road density, better traffic management, improving the system of auto-rickshaws, restoring tree cover, managing the water situation, waste disposal and creating opportunities for the burgeoning youth population.
At present, Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency comprises the following 8 Legislative Assembly segments:
|166||Govindraj Nagar||Bangalore Urban|
|167||Vijay Nagar||Bangalore Urban|
|171||Padmanaba Nagar||Bangalore Urban|
|172||B. T. M. Layout||Bangalore Urban|
