RBI imposes penalty on The Baripada Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Baripada, Odisha


 

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs.1.00 lakh (Rupees one lakh only) on The Baripada Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Baripada,

The penalty has been imposed by Reserve Bank of India, for violation of the provisions of Section 31 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (AACS) relating to publication/submission of accounts and balance sheet for the year 2011-12 within the stipulated date.

Baripada is a city and a municipality in Mayurbhanj district in the state of Odisha, India.

Baripada is the district headquarters.

It is a place to stay and tour the Mayurbhanj region. This region is home to Similipal, one of the most important wildlife parks of India.

The national park comprises lush valleys, forest lands and scores of ancient temples.

Rathyatra (Chariot Festival) is one of the main attractions of Baripada. Baripada also hosts the second most popular Rath Yatra of Odisha after Puri. The ancient capital of the Bhanja rules, Khiching lies about 205 Km away from Balasore and 150 km from Baripada. Scores of temples dominate the place, some of which are still in active worship.

The predominant deity of Khiching is Kichakeswari, the most scared Goddess of the Mayurbhanj chiefs. The temple dedicated to her is built entirely of chlorite slabs and unique of it kind in India. The sculptures are beautiful. Baripada is also the home of the Mayurbhanj Chhau dance, an ancient martial dance form.

 

A small museum here boasts of highly important historical specimens of sculpture and art.
