The Unava Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd., Unava – Penalised

It is the turn of The Unava Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd., Unava, Mehsana Dist., Gujarat, to be penalized by Reserve Bank of India.

RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs1.00lakh(Rupee one lakh only) on the The Unava Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd.,

The monetary penalty has been imposed for violation of Reserve Bank of India instructions by non-adherence to Anti Money Laundering (AML) guidelines.

Unava, is a small town located near Unjha village in Mehsana district of Gujarat, India. The town’s population is approximately 18,000.

This village has large population of both Hindu and Islam community. It has famous shrine (dargah). Outside village there is a huge trading market of jeera, variali, built by merchants from Unjha village.

Unjha Market Yard is one of the biggest regulated Market and it a well known commercial centre throughout India for its trade of Jeera (Cumin), Variali (Fennel Seeds), Isabgul and Raido (Mustard Seeds)  

Jeera,(Cumin in English) is mostly grown in hot countries. This spice dates back to the Old Testament. Also called “cumino.” It is available both in a powder and as seeds. Freshly ground seeds impart a robust fragrance and flavor to curries, salsas, soups, and marinades. For heightened aroma, people roast the whole seeds for a couple of minutes in a dry skillet or toaster oven before grinding. 

Variali (Fennel Seeds), is a plant originally from the Mediterranean region, also called “sweet fennel” or “Florence fennel.” Fennel has a mild and slightly sweet flavor reminiscent of aniseed or licorice. It is composed of a pale green or white bulb formed from interwoven leaves, and topped with stems decorated with a multitude of feathery leaves.
